Twenty Questions with Dhiraj – Coming Soon.
Long-time Los Angeles Volleyball Academy coach Dhiraj Coats returns to the LAVA Girls coaching ranks this coming season and retains his excellent place as one of the most popular and respected coaches in the LAVA arsenal. Dhiraj has found success at a number of different LAVA affiliates, but has found his lasting niche and made a significant mark as a valuable member of the LAVA West coaching staff.
Following a successful career playing that included significant accolades at both Pierce College and afterward at Pepperdine University, Dhiraj qualified for a handful of AVP professional beach volleyball events beginning in ‘09, even as he earned his degree in Physical Education. A Certified Personal Trainer, Dhiraj holds specializations in Sports Performance and Corrective Exercise, and as a master of mental training, places specific emphasis for his players on the mental aspects of athleticism.
Dhiraj is currently the Head Varsity Girls Coach of powerhouse — and reigning league champion — Louisville High School, as well as the Head Boys Varsity Coach of Crespi High School. Dhiraj has many exceptional years of coaching experience working with high school and college athletes, including several years spent coaching for LAVA’s only boys club volleyball affiliate, SMBC Boys, where Dhiraj helped coach the 18-1’s to a Gold Medal at the Junior Nationals in 2015.
At LAVA West, Dhiraj holds a pair of important roles: first, as one of the club’s most veteran coaches; and second, as the Lead Coach for the LAVA West Core Conditioning Program, a thrice weekly beach conditioning and core training program open to all LAVA West athletes. We welcome Dhiraj back to LAVA West!
